I want to share with you some feedback I got on these mixes from a real
Cajun. My builder is Louisiana Cajun. So I decided to get a true Cajun's
opinion of the Etoufee and Jambalaya. I gave his wife the mixes and she
made them both. She called and said her family loved them -- her boys were
licking their plate.

I tried the Jambalaya just this week.  I used chicken and some garlic sausage, and it was awesome.  I am afraid of really spicy foods as they don't set well with me.  But, I figured I had heard such good reviews about it that I ordered it this last time.  Boy am I glad I did.  I added a little more rice and some canned tomato juice, (that my mom canned last summer) and some tomatoes, cause we are tomato fanatics here.  I always seem to add a little more to all of the mixes, cause I have some really big eaters here.  But all I can say is WOW!!  I took some over to my neighbors and they just loved it.  This will become one of my samples at parties for something different!!  I think next time I might use a spicier sausage just for the heck of it!!  I never would have tried it other than the fact that so many people rave about it.  I am so glad I did!!  This is just another reason I love The Gourmet Cupboard.  Awesome products at awesome prices.

I finally broke down and made the Jambalaya last night for dinner. It was a great easy supper and it made more than enough to feed myself and my 3 little monsters Actually I took a full container of it for lunch today at work...I always do that with my leftover mixes and I always gain a fan or two!
I actually thought the Jambalaya was good last night..but today after all of the flavors had more time to set in it was FABULOUS!!!

The jambalaya is very good, being from Louisiana I was kinda skeptical about tomato sauce in my jambalaya. But it has become my son's favorite, he tells everyone that they have to try it.
I have made it with chicken and sausage, and the last time we cooked it with Deer hamburger meat and mixed in some Jimmy Dean's sausage and it made it more like a dirty rice and was still very very good.
